Renting a new facility? Changing your operation? Have you checked your rate structure?
In the absence of accurate historical consumption for a new tenant or building owner, utilities sometimes use previous occupant electrical load to establish a rate structure for billing. This can result in assignment of an unnecessary and more expensive rate structure and one that nowhere nearly reflects actual energy being used. Such was the case for one AWL client. Through monitoring and analysis, AWL uncovered the error, alerted our client and the utility. Based on facts presented by AWL, the Utility agreed to immediately assign a less expensive rate structure. The regulator is currently reviewing an AWL complaint lodged on behalf of our client, requesting a refund of $20,000, representing 2 years of prior excessive payments
